Roger Benedict, violist and conductor, is active as both performer and pedagogue. In 2002 he moved to Australia from the United Kingdom to take up the positions of Principal Viola of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the orchestra’s Fellowship Program, and Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In addition he appears regularly as a soloist and conductor, both in Australia and overseas.

Volupté: Music for Viola and Piano by Charles Kœchlin and Joseph Jongen, played by outstanding musicians Roger Benedict, Timothy Young and guest artist Ben Jacks.

Jongen and Koechlin are two names that are not at the top of anyone’s list of most recognised composers of the twentieth century. In fact most music lovers will not have even heard their names let alone their music. But they are two individual and distinctive musical voices who followed their own path and composed some wonderful music.
